Historical Sewing: Victorian Underwear

I have wanted to recreate a corset from Jill Salen’s Corsets for years. I drafted my own pattern to my own measurements, but based it on two corsets from the book. Though the corsets are from slightly different style eras, 1870s and 1890s, they are incredibly similar. Once I finished it, I decided to make some accompanying 1870s underwear. I draped a combinations pattern, based on an 1870s pattern I found online. Made a lobster bustle from Norah Waugh’s Corsets and Crinolines. A bustle pad from The Victorian Dressmaker by Izabela Pitcher of Prior Attire. And a petticoat to complete the set.
