Historical Sewing: 18th Century Stays

I have made several sets of 18th century stays, these two are based on an extant set from 1776. For the orange set I dyed the linen myself. I subsequently altered this pair to become front as well as back lacing, made a stomacher, and replaced the blue grosgrain ribbon with black linen binding. I also made the linen shifts to go underneath, one of which I sewed entirely by hand. 2018 – 2022.
