For this optional project from the 2nd year of my degree, we had to design for the a character from The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. I decided in the end not to take this project all the way to completion, instead choosing to finish costume designs for Macbeth, but produced a full set of mood boards for the setting and each character. Much like Walpole himself, I was going for a dark, dramatic, fantasy aesthetic, drawing inspiration from medieval and renaissance dress. I was leaning towards richly coloured and patterned textiles, with heavy religious imagery throughout. 2015.
