Play: Shakespeare’s Macbeth

For this project from the 2nd year of my degree, we had to design for the a character from Macbeth by William Shakespeare. I went through a lot of changes in style for the costumes, designing primarily for Lady Macbeth. I set my version of the play in a dark and misty, wild and desolate landscape. I decided that the Weird Sisters were manipulating Macbeth to bring the chaos of nature into the human world, in the service of their pagan gods. I dressed my characters in furs, tartan wools, and textured knitwear. For details of the design process for this project please see my blog series on the subject. 2015.
