For this optional project from the 2nd year of my degree, we had to design for the a character from The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. I decided in the end not to take this project all the way to completion, instead choosing to finish Macbeth, but produced a full set of mood boards for the setting and each character. I was going for a dark, fantasy aesthetic, with no set historical period. I was leaning towards richly coloured and patterned textiles, with heavy religious imagery throughout. For details of the design process for this project please see my blog series on the subject. 2015.
