For this optional project from the 2nd year of my degree, we had to design for the a character from The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. I decided in the end not to take this project all the way to completion, instead choosing to finish Macbeth, but produced a full set of mood boards for the setting and each character. I was going for a dark, fantasy aesthetic, with no set historical period. I was leaning towards richly coloured and patterned textiles, with heavy religious imagery throughout. For details of the design process for this project please see my blog series on the subject.
