Historical Sewing: 16thC Bodies

16th Century undergarments were among the first historical items of clothing that I learned to make. I have made smocks, shirts, late 16th Century and early 17th Century bodies, and bum rolls (also know as roll farthingales). The bodies are reproductions of the extant Dorothea Bodies, dated 1598, and the set worn by Elizabeth Vernon in her portrait, dated 1595. I have since made them for clients. 2018 – 2021.
